Liquid Rubber RV Roof and EPDM Rubber Primer

EPDM Primer is a rubber polymer water based roofing primer, and like its name; its been specifically designed for EPDM surfaces. EPDM Rubber is extremely hard to stick to without a quality Primer. This Primer does not react with atmospheric moisture allowing it to be opened and resealed for use at a later date.

Basic Use

Primer is used to prime EPDM roofing membranes to provide improved adhesion for the Liquid Rubber RV Roof Coating and other Liquid Rubber Coatings.

Surface Preparation

All work surfaces should be clean, dry; free of dirt, dust; debris, oils; un-adhered coatings, deteriorated membranes and other contaminants that may result in a surface that is uneven or not sound. Clean the surface with Liquid RV Smart Cleaner and wipe down with acetone prior to the application of the Primer.  Primer is extremely sticky, it is best to apply on half the surface leaving a work area to stand on.  Apply Primer then top coating (ie. RV Roof coating) and then repeat on the other half where you can stand on the completed side.

  • Do not use as a membrane cleaner.
  • Talc, dust; oil, ice; snow or wet conditions inhibit good adhesion. Clean and dry surfaces are a necessity.
  • Not to be used on TPO and PVC roof membranes.
  • Install above 10C (50F) and rising
  • Do not apply later in the day if Rain or Dew is forecast

The primer was extremely sticky

Just did half the camperRV roof today looks like it’s doing the job. The primer is very sticky even after 3 hours curing and the liquid rubber rolled on very well. Hopefully this will solve our leak issue.

Difficult project

Going to put one more coat of Neopond on before filling my pond. Hopeful that no leaks appear.

Grant Yake

25x25 EPDM flat roof in southern Ontario. Resealed mechanical seal. Washed, dryed and wiped down with acetone. 4 inch seam tape with a one inch strip of primer on each side. 6 inch roller to apply the LR RV Roof sealer. Temps in the 15 to 20c range. Several dry warm days followed for a good cure. Roof seals are perfroming great so far. Follow the directions and recommendations for a great performing seal.
